Employee Benefits Liability Insurance
Employee Benefits Liability covers omissions or errors in the administration of employee benefit plans. For example, let’s say somehow you do not add a new employee to the benefit plan and the employee suffers a claim (emergency surgery etc.) If this employee has no insurance in effect, this employee benefits liability policy would cover the company for defense costs and the loss all the way up to the policy limit. While some carriers write employee liability benefits coverage on an occurrence basis, others write it on a “claims made” basis. Employee Benefits Liability is conventionally added to the General Liability policy.
